WHAT IS LIFE LIKE IN THE AREA?
The Boroughs was portrayed by Shakespeare as one of the most disreputable clusters of streets outside London’s city walls, today Islington is a fashionable London borough. Islington hosts three of London’s most successful fringe theatres: one that prides itself on being the first pub theatre founded in England since Shakespeare’s day, and has promoted emerging playwrights and LGBT theatre since opening in 1970; the other is a studio-theatre of international repute; and the last one which hosts stand-up comedy.
Just four miles from the heart of central London, this trendy, liberal borough has an enviable property market, world-class theatres and an array of mouth-watering restaurants. On the weekends, locals can often be found browsing through small independent boutiques and a treasure trove of antiques, before making their way to sample the tempting array of international cuisine served at their market. Popular with young professionals and less so with families, Islington has also seen the rise of tech businesses and start-up hubs in recent years.
A wide range of properties can be found here, from ornate period terraces to stylish new-build apartments. Central and well-connected, this borough’s commuting population is served by Overground, Underground and Great Northern train line. There are also very good bus routes throughout the borough both day and night.
